This is the personal blog of UX designer, creative thinker & entrepreneur Jon Phillips.
Welcome To My New Digs
I did it. I finally got around to putting together a design and some ideas for my own blog. It wasn’t easy but someone had to do it.
Some of you reading this will either know me personally, because of work I did for clients or from one of the many websites and online magazines I’ve written for, edited, managed, founded and/or co-founded.
Some of those projects ended up being quite successful. FreelanceFolder, SpyreStudios, Design-Newz and Medialoot are probably the most notable ones.
But here’s the thing with me, I love building, creating and launching sites and then growing them to a level I’m satisfied with. Running sites is definitely something I enjoy and I currently run many websites. But at some point you just have to let go and move on – so I like to also sell websites (call this short attention span, ADHD or whatever).
One of the reasons I’m starting this blog is to perfect my writing but also to put myself to the test and see how I’ll be able run a blog that I’ll never be able to sell (hey, it’s my name after all). No exit strategy or anything like that. Will my approach be different than when I was working on building other less personal sites? Will it be easier or more difficult for me to write? Will I be able to stay on topic? Does it really matter? Basically, this site is a bit of an experiment, a sandbox of some kind.
Welcome.
I’m sure you’ve noticed I don’t have any form of commenting system on my blog. I value feedback from readers immensely, but dealing with comment spam and approval of comments wasn’t something I wanted to spend time doing. I would much prefer if you emailed me to discuss a post or sent me a tweet. I find this is more personal and I’ll reply to everybody.
